Go for it if you...
You want lab-verified proof of a clean diaper rather than a marketing claim
You like seeing the full ingredient list and the actual test panel behind a product
You want forever chemicals, heavy metals, and phthalates independently tested and cleared
You want totally chlorine-free, fragrance-free, lotion-free construction backed by EWG Verified
You want strong overnight leak protection without giving up a clean formula
You want a diaper that discloses every single material, with nothing hidden behind vague terms
You value a brand that pays for its own independent forever-chemicals testing and publishes the numbers
You want a soft 100% US cotton liner against your baby's skin instead of plastic
You need strong overnight leak protection that has been independently tested
You are comfortable weighing one contested prior test result against the brand's published rebuttal
The main thing to know
The only real catch is the wetness-indicator strip, which uses a crystal violet lactone dye against the skin in a diaper that is otherwise free of skin-contact dyes. If you want zero dyes of any kind, that single strip is the reason to look elsewhere; for everyone else it is a small price for the most lab-verified diaper we have scored.
An earlier independent 2023 lab study detected organic fluorine in Kudos despite its certification, and the brand's own later test came back non-detect. That conflict is unresolved, so this diaper sits behind the brands with a clean, undisputed testing record even though its published result scores at the top.
Skip this if you...
You want a diaper with no skin-contact dyes at all, including the wetness strip
You prefer a cotton top sheet over a plant-based nonwoven
You are shopping strictly on lowest price
You want a brand with zero contested testing history behind it
You want to avoid any dye that touches the skin, including the wetness-indicator strip
You prefer a diaper backed by the broadest independent testing covering heavy metals and other contaminants, not forever chemicals alone
Neither of these quite what you're looking for?

Not necessarily. The overall score reflects how we weight those three pillars, but your priorities may differ. If you care most about safety, compare the safety scores directly. If budget drives your decision, the prices tell a clearer story. The "right" pick is the one that matches what matters most to your family.
