Commission rates do not influence scores or rankings: every product runs through the same scoring system, and the highest scorer wins regardless of whether it has an affiliate link. R3 doesn't take sponsorships, paid placements, or affiliate-weighted rankings. That's a deliberate structural choice — and the trade-off is that your subscription has to pay for the research instead. Premium funds the people, tools, and time behind every category we cover: independent toxicology review, third-party certification verification, ISO 17025-accredited lab data ingestion, recall monitoring, and the editorial process that turns all of it into scores you can act on.
A typical category rubric takes 40–80 hours of upstream research before the first product is scored. We read the primary toxicology, ingest the relevant regulatory filings (FDA, EPA, CPSC, ECHA), audit the certification standards (NSF, GREENGUARD, OEKO-TEX, IAPMO), and design weighting specific to that category — because the dangers of an air fryer have nothing in common with the dangers of a baby monitor. None of that work is visible on the product page; you only see the verdict. Premium pays for the underlying apparatus.
