Two of the three safety criteria land near the bottom of the range. The included baking tray — the surface your food sits directly on — appears to be bare aluminum, which leaches into acidic foods at levels that exceed safe thresholds for young children.

On top of that, BALMUDA has made no PFAS-free statement for The Toaster at all. The interior wall material is mid-range: it avoids toxic nonstick coatings, but it is not stainless steel.

Bottom line: If food-contact material safety matters to your household, this product needs aftermarket upgrades before we can recommend it for regular family cooking.

Bottom line: If you want the best toast, croissants, or artisan bread results in a compact oven, the cooking performance here is hard to match.

The removable crumb tray is confirmed and straightforward to pull out after each use. For a toaster oven used daily for bread, this matters — crumb buildup is not just a nuisance, it is a fire risk. The steam water reservoir adds a small ritual to each use, but most owners describe it as quick and intuitive.

Bottom line: Easy enough for daily use without frustration. The steam reservoir adds thirty seconds to setup but the results justify it.
