The lids are BPA-free plastic with a silicone seal. OXO doesn't say which plastic — it's probably polypropylene, the industry standard. The silicone gasket (not the plastic) is what contacts your food most directly when sealing. If you're concerned about BPS substitutes in the lid plastic, OXO hasn't addressed that.

OXO says the glass is 'naturally BPA-free' — which is accurate, borosilicate glass never contained BPA. The brand doesn't make BPS-free, PFAS-free, or phthalate-free claims for the lid plastic. For the glass container, you don't need these claims. For the lid, you're relying on BPA-free as the only assurance.

OXO hasn't published any independent lab testing for PFAS or heavy metals. For the glass container, that's not really a concern — borosilicate glass doesn't contain those chemicals. For the plastic lid, it means you're relying on OXO's word that it's safe beyond 'BPA-free.'

The four locking tabs plus silicone gasket create a genuinely leakproof seal — you can toss this in a bag with soup and not worry. The gasket pops out for proper dishwasher cleaning. This is Consumer Reports' top seal design for a reason.

Glass doesn't stain. Tomato sauce, turmeric, pasta sauce — rinse them out and the container looks new. That's not true for any plastic container, no matter how premium. Over years of daily use, this is one of the biggest practical advantages of glass.
